After a year of vacancy, a new tenant has entered the old Parlor Room space at 1126 N. High St. in the Short North.
The 1126, a bar and restaurant serving up a sushi-centric menu, opened its doors last week, introducing its new offerings in a relatively unchanged building. Owner Daniel Chen, a 27-year-old resident of Dublin, has been conceptualizing the restaurant since last winter, aiming to bring a new sushi option to the neighborhood.
Like a lot of sushi restaurants, The 1126 has an extensive menu. It features dozens of rolls — some of which can be made into an entree with a soup or salad — and a variety of tempura, hibachi and noodle dishes. A selection of desserts and hot and cold appetizers rounds out the menu.
Those who ventured to the Parlor Room in the year that it was open will find The 1126 retained much of the aesthetic from its predecessor. The front dining room offers ample booth and table seating, while the back room hosts a few group dining tables. It’s all set in a low-lit atmosphere similar to a speakeasy.
The 1126 operates daily: from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
