Tesla Opens Columbus Store at Easton

Starting today, Easton shoppers will be able to pick up a Tesla Model S in between dinner at Ocean Club and a movie at AMC. The Palo Alto based electric car manufacturer is officially opening their new showroom space at the mall in the area that formerly housed the Puma store (and before that was home to the third largest McDonalds in the nation) — a spot that is hotly desired for showing off these unique vehicles.

“We place stores in strategic locations based on where we think our current and future customer base live and in areas where people are informed and interested in technology,” says Alexis Georgeson, communications spokesperson at Tesla Motors. “Our stores are in high-foot traffic locations where we have the opportunity to inform as many people about EVs, our company, and the advanced technology behind Model S.”

In addition to Easton, Tesla is also entering the Ohio market this month at the Kenwood Towne Centre in Cincinnati. The location at Easton may seem small for an automobile dealership at a mere 2,632 square feet, but with the Model S being the only vehicle the company is producing (the Model X crossover SUV goes into production in late 2014) the size should be adequate for now.

“Customers in our stores are invited to use the interactive touch screens to learn about electric technology,” explains Georgeson. “Our stores and galleries have open glass store fronts that invite the customers in to interact with the cars on display. The Tesla store will feature a big screen on the back wall, private sitting areas where customers and product specialists can talk more intimately, design studios where visitors can customize their Model S, and a display Model S that invite visitors to slide into the driver’s seat.”
