Olde Towne East

Located just east of downtown Columbus, the neighborhood was once known as the “Silk Stocking District” in reference to the expensive clothing worn by its wealthy inhabitants. After World War II, however, its rich residents were gone, having died or relocated to distant suburbs. The interstate highway system introduced in the 1950s also contributed to the area’s decline. OTE began to transition in the 1990s and continues to draw new residents.
