    Sweet Carrot Closes Two Locations

After growing to three locations in three years, Sweet Carrot has closed two of its stores. While their flagship location at 1417 W. Fifth Ave. is still operating, Sweet Carrot’s Dublin and Polaris restaurants have shuttered.

The announcement came from Sweet Carrot CEO Angela Petro in a post on Facebook, in which she said the company had expanded too soon.

“Three restaurants in 3 years. We have increased our fan base, taken great local, wholesome, made from scratch food to parts of the community where a lot of the options are chain restaurants,” she wrote. “I’m proud of that and it was a good idea…

    I did it too soon.”

Based on the food truck Petro and her team were once testing at local festivals, Sweet Carrot opened its first brick and mortar in late 2015 in Grandview. The restaurant took over the space once held by Rife’s market, which closed after 78 years in 2014, serving up food counterintuitive to its name — barbecued meats, corn cakes, and mac and cheese.

Less than three years later, in 2018, the brand grew by two locations in just two months, opening their Polaris location in February and their Dublin spot in April. While those two newer locations are closed, the original Grandview restaurant remains open, and Sweet Carrot catering is still operational.

“…my supreme sadness at having to leave so many of our team members behind is balanced by the knowledge that I can focus on the positives, nurture our sweet, quirky delicious little brand, and help it grow when the time is right and for the right reasons,” Petro said.

Petro also owns Together & Company, a catering service she recently rebranded from Two Caterers. It was started in 1997 and continues to grow, recently taking on the new White Castle headquarters at The Reach on Goodale as its newest event space, dubbed The Fives.
