Stauf’s Coffee Roasters Opening at North Market This Weekend

The North Market crew at Stauf’s is wasting no time getting the new coffee shop up and running now that their coffee roasting equipment has been installed. Originally slated for a July opening, Stauf’s North Market shop is ready to start serving coffee this weekend.

“We actually just finished roasting the first batch 10 minutes ago,” said Stauf’s President Mark Swanson on the phone this afternoon. “We wanted to make sure it worked before we opened, so now we’re ready to get going.”

Swanson says that while the new coffee shop will be selling coffee this weekend, their menu board won’t up yet, and a few of the new fixtures won’t be installed until later.

“We had to move the roaster in before we could get some of those pieces put in place, but we really wanted to be open for the Ohio Craft Beer festival this weekend, “explained Swanson. “We’re ready to stretch out a bit and sell some coffee and get things going.”

Stauf’s North Market location will focus on the complete coffee experience, roasting small batches throughout the day to ensure the freshest cup of coffee available for market goers. Additionally, customers can choose from a variety of espresso drinks and pour-over coffees as well. Stauf’s well eventually add a few local food items including Sammy’s Bagels, Destination Donuts and pastries from Omega Artisan Baking.

On the other side of Downtown, Swanson’s team at the old Cup O Joe location in German Village are working simultaneously on brand new roasting equipment with hopes of having that new Stauf’s location open sometime next week.

“We had a few of our updates denied for exterior updates, so we have to go back to the German Village Commission in October,” he explained. “So the outside won’t be finished next week, but the inside should be. We just got the roaster on Wednesday, so that may not be functioning until October, but the bakery and cafe should be operational.”
