Standard Hall Coming Soon to The Short North
Last fall we learned that a group of Short North buildings would soon see a historic renovation project, courtesy of local developer Concept Equity. Today, we’re learning that the first tenant in the new buildings will be Standard Hall — a new restaurant and bar concept from Corso Ventures, which opened The Pint House in 2013 and Forno in 2015.
“We’ve always known we were going to continue to expand on High Street as soon as we had the momentum to do so,” explained Reed Woogerd, Director of Operations for Corso Ventures. “This is in one of the last areas of High Street that needs redeveloped, and we see it being more neighborhood-oriented.”
The 4,500 square foot restaurant and bar will be housed at 1100 N. High Street, in a building that was once home to the much-beloved music venue known as Little Brothers, which closed in 2007. Standard Hall would see the space redesigned with an indoor/outdoor aesthetic in mind, and renderings showcase an expanded patio space, which Woogerd said is still very much conceptual and has not yet been approved by the Italian Village Commission.
“It’s an iconic industrial venue with a casual outdoor gathering space that will provide a relatively inexpensive experience defined by the user based on the existence of options,” said Woogerd. “Think Austin, Texas outdoor barbecue.”
The food and drink menus are still being developed, but will largely focus on craft beer, fresh cocktails and made-from-scratch food.
Standard Hall is aiming to open sometime in June.
Meanwhile, the remaining available retail spaces on the rest of the block are not yet filled, though Woogerd hinted that additional announcements may soon follow.
