Short North’s Green Olive Company Joining North Market

As part of the North Market’s ongoing rotation of businesses, Short North store Green Olive Company was recently announced as their newest addition. Owned by Lisa McCormack, Green Olive will take up the space next to Destination Donuts and across from Flavors of India.

“We are thrilled to become a part of the North Market community!” McCormack said in a press release. “We look forward to sharing our passion for olive oils and balsamic vinegars with North Market customers and fellow merchants.”

That passion actually came into fruition five years ago, when Green Olive first opened at 861 N. High St. McCormack, having earned degrees in dietetics and as a physician’s assistant, wanted to make a career out of her interest in healthy cooking and eating. So, olive oil, an essential ingredient in nearly all of her meals, became her focus.

Her Short North store has offered an array of oils and vinegars, including extra virgin olive oil, fused olive oil, infused olive oil, and white and dark balsamic vinegars. McCormack isn’t sure if the stand-alone store will remain open as she makes her transition into the North Market, citing the area’s heavy construction as one reason she’d close her doors. She sent in her application to join the North Market several years ago, and she’s looking forward to working alongside her fellow merchants.

“We just thought it would be a great community feel to be there and we could complement the existing vendors products,” McCormack said.

No exact date has been set yet, but McCormack is aiming for an opening in June.
