After just over three years in the Short North, children’s boutique Cub Shrub, 749 N. High St., is closing its doors. A firm closing date hasn’t been set, but the store will remain open at least through the end of the month.
It’s not the end of the Cub Shrub brand, though. The Grandview location, which launched in April of 2017, will remain open.
“Cub Shrub as a brand and as a store and as a community of people who care deeply for the little ones in their lives is not going anywhere,” said Niki Quinn, who owns the store with her husband Josh, in a blog post on the store’s website. “We feel operating two stores within such close proximity of each other (they are less than 3 miles apart) has used a lot of resources that could be so much better spent.”
The focus will turn to creating an even better Cub Shrub store experience and bringing the community together through classes, hangouts and more.
The original Cub Shrub location opened just doors down from the Quinn’s original boutique, Tigertree.
“We so appreciate all the support that our Short North store has received over the past three years,” Niki said.
“It was a hard decision,” Josh said in a Facebook post. “This community has embraced us and helped nurture that brand into something pretty special.”
The owners assured that Tigertree is staying firmly put in the Short North.
“At least for now, we know that we want one incredible Tigertree and one incredible Cub Shrub,” said Josh. “Not having ambiguity around what that future looks like and returning to making these two single location brands everything they can be feels amazing.”
