    Short North White Castle Reopens

After being closed for nearly two years, the brand new White Castle reopens today in the Short North, with a unique drive-thru experience and exclusive menu items. Sitting at 965 N. High St., it’s part of the greater Castle Development by Borror Properties, an eight-story building complete with a combined 23,000 square feet of retail and office space.

“We’ve been at that site since 1968,” says White Castle VP Jamie Richardson, “so to be reopening in our 50th year is great.”

It’s reopening with some changes, including the addition of two new sliders to the menu: the 1921 slider, a throwback to the year the first White Castle opened; and the Impossible slider, made in partnership with Impossible Foods and entirely plant-based. The two new offerings are available only at the new Short North location, but have been introduced outside of Ohio in Chicago, New York and New Jersey.

“Nothing against our colleagues, but you don’t have to spend $8 to sample an Impossible burger at the Castle,” Richardson says. “You can get it for $1.99.”

Guests can order using any of the four kiosks or the traditional way at the counter. To access the drive-thru, guests will enter through the recently opened parking garage at 985 N. High St.

The 3,800 square foot restaurant seats up to 48 and employs 40 people. It’s open and serves all items 24 hours a day.

Move-in dates for the building’s other tenants, which include Orange Theory Fitness and Penzone Salon & Spa, have yet to be announced.
