Short North Retailer TORSO Celebrates 20 Years
This summer, Short North retailer TORSO Clothing Co will celebrate 20 years of business. First moving into its spot at 772 N. High St. back in late May of 1998, TORSO has provided men and women’s clothing while supporting local nonprofits and other organizations.
TORSO regulars know the store best for its wall of men’s underwear from all over the world, containing more than 150 different styles and designs. Owned by visual merchandiser Scott Rousku, TORSO’s been recognized locally and once internationally for its unique window designs. Rousku, who pursued a degree in art and fashion from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, brought years of experience in store design and merchandising to TORSO’s opening and stocks the store with designer brands like SuperDry, JUNK, and DIESEL, according to a press release.
The store’s own brand of t-shirts with “tongue-in-cheek” graphics and slogans launched in 2014.
TORSO has helped support and promote the AIDS Walk, BRAVO, Breast Cancer Walk, Camp Sunrise, Equitas Health, HighBall, Mid-Ohio Food Drive, NAGAAA, Speedo Dash, Stonewall Columbus and Young Professionals Against Diabetes.
“Working with these organizations is part of TORSO’s willingness to give back to the community that has supported us for 20 years,” the press release stated.
To celebrate their anniversary, they’ll be hosting several events throughout Columbus. Follow their social media pages for more information. Visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/TorsoShortNorth.
