    Shop Talk: Tigertree

Tigertree has called three different Short North addresses home in just under seven year of operation, which sounds like major headache for any small retail business owner. But shop owners Josh and Niki Quinn are happy to have settled nicely into their current spot at 787 North High Street, and the neighborhood in turn has continued to support them well.

“We started out as an accessories company while living in Los Angeles,” explains Josh. “Our original location on Brickel Street where the Homage store is now, was a hybrid of a studio and retail space, but the retail part slowly won out.”

The retail operations of Tigertree now expand across their 3,000 square foot two-story store where shoppers can find a wide variety of men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, furniture, home goods, gifts, stationary and more.

“Basically, we just sell things that we are passionate about, so our store is completely a representation of our lives,” says Josh. “I think that connecting thread helps us do pretty good job of having such a varied product mix.”

The next frontier for Tigertree is their non-physical sales space: a newly relaunched ecommerce site designed by Niki. Josh says that they’ve already seen a large increase in online sales, which he expects to continue into 2014 as their reach into the local shopping scene continues to grow.

“Columbus, and the Short North in particular, is an amazing place to be located,” he says. “We have looked around to neighboring cities for a couple of years now, considering shop number two, and nothing compares. You would have to go to New York, LA or Chicago to find another neighborhood with the quality and mix of shops and restaurants that we have, but I don’t think anywhere has that quality and mix with the same neighborhood feel.”
