Business partners Josh Stamper and Bryan Gest opened their bicycle shop in Grove City two and a half years ago. Heritage Cycles is located at 3937 Broadway and is a full-service retailer and repair shop.
Heritage Cycles carries well-known brands such as Jamis Bikes, Surly, Fuji, Raleigh, and Bianchi among others. Stamper and Gest work with customers to help them find the bike that fits their needs. They stock bikes in the shop which can be purchased as is, or they can order a specific size and color. They have a wide selection of new, used, and refurbished practical recreation bikes, including options for lower budgets. For repairs, the shop stocks industry standard parts.
Prior to opening Heritage Cycles, Stamper was the lead mechanic for CoGo where he was responsible for assembling and repairing all of the bikes around the city. Eventually, he grew to miss the daily interaction with people and moved on to work in a few different bike shops in Cincinnati. When Stamper and his wife decided to move back to their hometown of Grove City, he realized there were no bike shops close by. He took the opportunity to open Heritage Cycles, along with Gest, and became part of the small-town business community.
In addition to repairing and selling bicycles, Heritage Cycles hosts weekly group bike rides on Wednesday evenings that start and end at the shop. During the summer months, they add family and kid-friendly rides to their calendar. They also host campouts and bike camping trips where participants bike, with all of their camping gear, to a location for a night and then bike back to the shop the following day.
This year Heritage Cycles is participating in Grove City’s Thanksgiving Waddle, adding a 12-mile biking option to the existing 5k. All proceeds go to the Grove City Foodbank. The shop also hosts groups such as boy scouts and 4H clubs to teach them basic repair skills, such as fixing a flat tire.
