Shop Talk: Pursuit Launches Custom Suit Line

Pursuit, a men’s suit shop located at 937 N. High St., launched a new custom suit line at the beginning of October. Owner Nate DeMars has expanded his established Pursuit brand to assist the clients who desire a suit built to fit them. While they still carry their off-the-rack suits, the new custom options allow clients more creative control in their suits.

While in college, DeMars struggled to find a well-fitting suit and noticed other students and peers were having the same issue. As a school project, he created the idea of a men’s suit store. And after graduating, he brought the dream to life. Six years in, DeMars has now established the business in the Short North, working mostly with students and millennials.

Clients of Pursuit have the option of buying an off-the-rack Pursuit brand suit, or working with the Pursuit staff to craft a personalized outfit. The in-house tailor can alter off-the-rack suits within two weeks, less if it’s a minor alteration. Custom suits take four to six weeks to be finished.

While the process of creating a custom suit might seem daunting, the staff at Pursuit are well-equipped to help clients make their selections. After a consultation to determine the purpose and desired look of the suit, and a thorough fitting process, the client is then able to choose everything about the suit, such as buttons, pockets, thread, lining, and fabric.

Although Pursuit does not offer an exclusive women’s line, they are able to tailor suits to fit women, as well as create custom suits for them. They also carry suit accessories, such as ties from the tie bar, belts, socks, and pocket squares.

Pursuit strives to be the special occasion suit destination. Weddings, graduations, and job interviews are all common reasons customers choose to work with Pursuit to achieve their desired look. Pursuit also opens their lounge area to groups of groomsmen to make their wedding preparation more enjoyable, offering a space for them to dress and hang out before the wedding.
