Kitchen graduated from Kent State with a degree in fashion. She worked in retail for eight years and she said she loved helping women feel good about themselves in their fashion choices.

When she turned 30, she decided it was time to branch out on her own and start her own business. In October 2016, she started Leander Boutique online.

For about six months, Kitchen operated her online store and participated in pop up shops before opening her first storefront on Waterloo Street in Canal Winchester in the Spring of 2017. When a storefront became available on South High Street in the heart of Canal Winchester a year and a half later, she moved Leander Boutique to its current location.

Leander Boutique carries women’s apparel, shoes, and accessories. Kitchen is always updating the stock, so the shop has something new in it every week. A few of the brands the shop frequently carries are Kancan denim, Dex, Liverpool, and Mia shoes. Kitchen tailors what the shop carries to her audience and has a wide range of items targeting women of all ages.

In addition to her regularly scheduled hours, Kitchen is available to schedule one-on-one styling appointments as well as group events like girls night out or date nights. She also hosts events and special sales for those in Leander Boutique’s VIPs.

One of the driving factors that led Kitchen to open her own business was community involvement. She wanted a way to give back to organizations she believed in, especially those fighting animal cruelty and neglect. Kitchen donates to animal rescue and adoption organizations, including RESCUEDohio and Stop the Suffering.

Kitchen is also involved in the Canal Winchester shopping district. She helped create Third Thurdays, a monthly shopping event where participating businesses stay open late and offer specials. During the event, Leander Boutique has giveaways, hosts small popups, offers special treats, and puts out a sale rack.
