Shop Talk: Find Eco-Friendly Shopping at Green Haven Living

Angie Scheu has been passionate about sustainability since she was a child.

“I was the kid who was reading ‘Save the Earth’ books and I started a Save the Earth Club at my school,” she recalled.

When she grew dissatisfied with the corporate world, Scheu decided to meld her business knowledge with her passion for sustainability, and Green Haven Living was born.

Scheu launched Green Haven Living as a pop-up shop for sustainable home goods and gifts in 2016. She participated in events around Westerville and Worthington that were sustainability and eco-friendly focused, notably the Green on the Green annual event in Worthington. After three years, she opened a 300 square foot brick-and-mortar location in Uptown Westerville on College Avenue. When the opportunity arose to move to a larger space on Main Street in July 2020, Scheu eagerly expanded her shop while simultaneously launching an online shop.

In addition to home goods and gifts, Green Haven Living now carries bath and body items from popular artisans like My Soaps, Hands Organic Skin Care, and Warren’s Wax. She also carries a wide, rotating selection of organic food from Glass Rooster Cannery and coffee from Glacial Roasting.

“Everything in the store has a story behind it,” Scheu said.

She hand-selects each item she carries and is knowledgeable to share their stories with her customers. Most items are made from reclaimed or repurposed materials. A popular gift item is the Molten Glass Collection, sculptures made from recycled glass melted and poured over teakwood furniture remnants.

The shop also carries handmade jewelry from local artists, soy wax and coconut oil candles from Creative Energy Candles, seeds from Circa Plants, Pawson Dog Treats, and Leafy bamboo toilet paper.

Green Haven Living is located at 20 W. Main St. in Westerville. Find more information on their website at GreenHavenLiving.org.
