Life-long Westerville resident Amy Winters-Cabilovski worked in her aunt and uncle’s small business throughout her time at Otterbein University. She learned the basics behind running a small business and discovered joy in working hands-on creatively. After a brief stint in a more traditional business atmosphere, she knew she wanted to get back to her creative roots. In 2012, she opened Edwin Loy Home in a small space on W. College Ave.

After a year, Winters-Cabilovski moved Edwin Loy Home to a more central location at 46 N. State street. In 2014 she opened a clothing store, DeDe & Dolly Boutique, at 34 N. State street while still operating Edwin Loy Home a few blocks down. When the space next to DeDe & Dolly Boutique became available in 2015, Winters-Cabilovski combined both shops into its current location at 34 N. State Street, under the name Edwin Loy Home. The following year, she opened a second location in Delaware and branded her clothing Stone & Sparrow Apparel in both the Delaware and Westerville shop.

Edwin Loy Home carries both unique rarities as well as more main-stream items. Winters-Cabilovski stocks items from trade shows, such as signs and frames and small household décor, and she also sells one of a kind pieces that she finds. She said she hopes to create a space where old and new are side by side, complimenting each other, showing customers how they can do the same in their homes.

A big part of Edwin Loy Home are their custom paint services. Winters-Cabilovski trained in England with Annie Sloan, of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, on techniques with her paint. Edwin Loy Home carries a huge selection of colors, along with sample boards, from which customers can select.

The shop has repurposed and repainted dining tables, writing desks, and end tables for sale, but also offers custom services. Customers can bring in their old furniture and Winters-Cabilovski will clean it and repaint it. Additionally, she also offers classes and workshops to teach chalk paint techniques and will be adding more instructional options to the calendar in the coming months.

Within Edwin Loy Home is their clothing line, Stone & Sparrow Apparel. They carry brands such as Claire Lauren, Free People, Barefoot Dreams, Grandmother’s Buttons, Pura Vida Bracelets, and Unpublished Jeans. Along with a wide selection of shirts, sweaters, dresses, pants, shorts, and jewelry, the shop also carries leather goods by Able, a company created for and dedicated to helping women to overcome extraordinary circumstances.
