Shop Talk: Bramble & Birch Home Goods Opens Inside Polaris Mall

The modern-living home goods store Bramble & Birch opened their doors on May 10. Located just inside the main entrance of Polaris Fashion Place, the eclectic vintage store offers a variety of both large and small hand-picked goods. Staple furniture pieces, as well as decorative plants, all find a home in this not-your-average-mall-store space.

Owner Abbey Knight has grown up in the antique industry, traveling the world and buying items with her parents from a young age. Knight’s parents owned an antique mall in Springfield, Ohio, and she learned the ins and out of the trade through working alongside them. Knight formerly owned and operated an antique store in Yellow Springs, Ohio, but closed the small store in order to focus on opening the larger Polaris location.

A collection of imported goods will be featured in the store. Knight works directly with families in Turkey and India to bring their products to her store. She aims to offer quality items that customers can feel good about buying, knowing their purchase has a lasting impact on those who made the items. Turkish Towels and Kantha Quilts are among those imported items. Additionally, many locally-sourced goods, quality made in the U.S., are available as well. Knight travels to various shows and estate sales to collect one-of-a-kind items. Larger items, such as chairs, benches, tables, and sofas are also available for purchase in the store.

Bramble & Birch got its name from a mix of the two worlds it represents: Southwest (Bramble) and Woodsy (Birch). Although the store carries pillows and blankets with geometric, Aztec patterns, and more modern, outdoorsy camping items, Bramble & Birch offers much more than its namesake. The store also houses everything from antique cameras, to mounted moose heads, to metal letters, to pillows with witty sayings. Since its opening, succulent plants have been the biggest selling item.
