The Wexner Center of the Arts announced this afternoon that Director Sherri Geldin will be stepping down from her role at the end of 2018, following 25 years of service in the position.
“The honor and privilege to direct the Wex for 25 years has been the opportunity of a lifetime, and one I will always cherish,” stated Geldin. “I make this decision with the deep conviction that it’s now the opportune time for the center, the university, and me to make way for a new generation of leadership.”
Geldin was first appointed as Director of the Wexner Center in 1993. During her tenure, she has overseen a $15 million renovation and has garnered over $30 million in endowed funds, among numerous other accomplishments.
“We are fortunate to have had Sherri’s leadership of the center almost since its founding,” stated Leslie Wexner, Chair of the Wexner Center Foundation board, and founder and chairman of L Brands, Inc. “The artistic significance of what she has brought to Ohio, at the Wexner Center, is hard to exaggerate as it never strays from the highest rungs of quality or from the courage required to undertake a full exploration of the creative spirit.”
A search firm will be selected in the coming months to hire a new director prior to Geldin’s departure.
