Shadowbox Live Founder Stev Guyer Has Died

Earlier this year, Guyer stepped away from his duties as CEO and President of the group for medical leave following surgery, with plans to return upon recovery. Members of the troupe have already assumed many of Guyer’s leadership roles during that process.

Guyer founded Shadowbox Live in 1988, growing it into the largest resident theatre company in America. In addition to their regular ongoing shows at 503 S. Front St., Shadowbox, under Guyer’s leadership, has become known for pushing the creative envelope in Columbus. The group has produced multimedia collaborations with other organizations including Opera Columbus and BalletMet, as well as outdoor musical extravaganzas in front of thousands of attendees at Columbus Commons.

Representatives at Shadowbox Live ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Stev Innovation Fund, which can be done online.

More information on a public memorial will be announced soon.
