Second Westies Location Now Open in Clintonville

Westies Gastropub, which opened its first location on S. Front Street in 2014, has officially opened its second location in Clintonville. While diners familiar with Westies fare will discover similarities between the two locations, Connor O’Neill, a member of the culinary team for both Westies locations and Short North’s Branch, said the Clintonville Westies will be unique to the clientele it serves.

“I actually think Clintonville is one of the most fun places to do a restaurant,” O’Neill said. “It’s got a diverse population that’s willing to try just about anything. There aren’t really any sports bars in Clintonville, let alone sports bars that are doing crazy good food. Once we get our feet underneath us and can focus on more than pizza and burgers, we can have more fun with stuff.”

He said they’re still working on putting the finishing touches on the Clintonville menu, but for now guests can find shareable items like nachos, wings and dips, as well as soups, salads, burgers and pizza. Some of the items listed on the German Village Westies menu, like their pastas and fried chicken and waffles, aren’t available at the Clintonville location. Operating out of a smaller kitchen, Westies Clintonville will at least temporarily boast a smaller menu as they work on adding more unique dishes.

The space, once occupied by the Wine Bistro that closed last spring, has enough seating for 140 people, including a patio and a private dining area with enough room for a party of 16.

Opening in a neighborhood dominated by families with kids, Westies is designed to seat large groups. O’Neill said they’ll be further immersing in the community through school sponsorship and charity donations.

    Westies Clintonville is located at 4416 N. High Street and will operate Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
