Second Location of Red Door BBQ Headed for OSU Campus

Franklinton’s Red Door BBQ will soon be easier to get for OSU game days. They’ll open a second location at The Point on Lane (or, as Pepsi has agreed to sponsor it, “Pepsi Point”) in January 2019.

After first opening on South Cypress Avenue last year, the restaurant has popularized among diners in its own neighborhood and beyond.

“Our Franklinton location has been doing really well,” says Red Door BBQ Operations Manager Michael Fink. “We’ve been growing our base. We love Franklinton and Franklinton loves us, but we get catering orders from all over central Ohio looking for our food now.”

The search for a second location started a few months ago. Red Door BBQ Owner Paul Rockwell, with his connections at The Point, secured roughly 1,000 square feet of space at the building’s southwest corner. Occupying such a tight space, Red Door will be making all of their food at their Franklinton location and bringing in up to campus to serve. There, they’ll set up a pickup- and carryout-only window, just like their Franklinton location. Catering orders can be placed there as well.

Red Door BBQ joins several other retail businesses at The Point, including The Stack, Rush Bowls, Verizon Wireless and a WesBanco ATM. Located directly across from the Ohio State Campus, and adjacent to the Ohio State Stadium and St. John’s arena, The Point provides full access to Red Door’s target clientele.

“Campus is going to be a perfect spot to place our pickup window for game day for sure, and for the campus atmosphere,” Fink says.

Once open, Red Door BBQ at The Point will have the same hours of operation as their original location, opening from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
