Local schools (or private entities paired with local schools) have the opportunity to compete for 250 million dollars in Ohio grant money… if they fill out one simple form before October 4.
That online form declares an intent to apply for grant money from Ohio’s brand new Straight A Fund.
After completing the form, the schools have three more weeks before the grant application deadline on October 25, 2013.
Funding will be rewarded to proposals in three areas (as they appear on the Ohio Department of Education’s website):
- Significant advancement in raising student achievement;
- Significant advancement in reducing spending; and
- Significant advancement in targeting more resources to the classroom.
Those who apply must also demonstrate sustainability, value and the impact of the proposed plan –and those impacts should be measurable. The review team is looking for projects that will make a difference in an economical, long-term way with the initial funding.
The website offers some hints on how the approach the proposal, “Ohio will give creative and cost-effective solutions the seed funding they need to get off the ground. We will be on the lookout for proposals that solve specific problems in our schools, can be quickly duplicated by others and are sustainable.”
The application itself is very straightforward, you can view it here: education.ohio.gov/Straight-A-Fund/
The award letters will be sent out on December 17, 2013.
