Salt & Pine Restaurant to Open Downtown This Fall

Local restaurateur Chris Crader announced last October that he would be opening a brand new restaurant concept inside the new 250 High building in 2015 that would differ from his Harvest Pizzeria and The Sycamore restaurants. Today, Crader has announced that “Salt & Pine” will be the name of the new breakfast-lunch-and-dinner venue that will function as a full service restaurant, a coffee bar, a liquor bar, and a grab-and-go store.

“Salt & Pine will be an extension of the values we adhere to at Harvest Pizzeria, Harvest Bar & Kitchen and The Sycamore, which embrace local, organic fresh food served creatively and deliciously,” said Crader, CEO of Grow Restaurants, the parent company of his multiple restaurant concepts. “We want our cuisine to capture the ever growing awareness towards healthier eating by better sourcing and creative menu options.”

Crader did not want to reveal too much more about the concept this early in the process, as he said that some of the details were still being finalized prior to construction starting in the next two weeks. He did say that the breakfast and lunch menus will be more consistent year-round and will cater toward the Downtown workforce crowd that typically is in a bit more of a hurry. The dinner menu on the other hand will change seasonally, and will cast a much wider net for its target audience.

“I think that calling the dinner menu ‘chef-driven’ is a good way to put it so that we don’t pigeonhole ourselves too much,” he explained. “We want to become known as a destination dining spot Downtown. I’m excited about about all of the new apartments, but I want people who live in suburbs to also be excited about coming back Downtown for dinner.”

Crader said that Salt and Pine is targeting a September 1st opening date if construction is on time. That would put the restaurant in a similar opening timeframe as to some of the new office tenants moving into the building.
