Rowe Boutique Launching Pop-Up Men’s Clothing Shop
Rowe Boutique is returning to their roots. The popular Short North fashion destination originally began as a pop-up shop in 2006 — located inside the Rebecca Ibel Gallery — and the store originally carried a small selection of men’s items when it opened in 2007 before focusing entirely on fashion for women. Next month, both of those things will make a return in a new way.
“We did carry men’s items when we first opened up, just on one little side of the store,” explained Rowe Owner Maren Roth. “People still ask about it, so I wanted to do something again eventually. After meeting my fiancee, it made sense to revisit.”
Enter: KILN, a new pop-up men’s mercantile and home goods store that will launch this Saturday as a pop-up store within Rowe, located at 718 North High Street. Roth’s fiancee Marc Desrosiers is a menswear designer, and the store will feature a line of the couple’s private label men’s shirts known as Bold Coast, in addition to a selection of other accessories, decor items and fashion.
“We don’t have a huge amount of floor space, so for now we’ll have candles, leather goods, trays, incense, magazines and other things that make up the lifestyle side of it, and create the feeling of what we’re trying to do,” explained Roth.
While KILN is only a pop-up for now, which will run until January 31st, Roth added that their goal is to relaunch in the Spring as a full-time store if they can secure the right brick-and-mortar space for the new venture.
