CASTO and development partners Robert Weiler Company, Kelley Companies, Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, and Smoot Construction have announced a partnership with the Franklinton Arts District for the ALLOY ArtSpace project, creating new murals for the mixed-use development project River & Rich.

River & Rich is set to begin phase one of the project on September 24. There will be 10 murals on the front of the buildings facing Rich Street, plus one large-scale mural located on the back of the building.

Commissioned artists include Maureen Clark, Ben Slobodien, Sarah Hout, Dan Gerdeman, Larry Doyle, David Denniston, Kyle Knapp, Daniel Rona, Tiffany Christopher, and Thom Glick. Steve Ehret will create the large-scale mural.

The second phase of the ALLOY ArtSpace project will begin in spring of 2019 with an additional eight murals along Rich Street. River & Rich will also install 15 murals inside the buildings from artists’ panels auctioned at the Art for Franklinton Fundraiser.

River & Rich is set to include 230 one- and two-bedroom garden and townhouse style apartments, 25,000 feet of retail space, and a two-story, 292-space parking garage. The development is scheduled to open in November of 2018.
