Rishi Sushi Ready to Open Downtown

Downtown commuters recognize North Third Street primarily as a connector, the road that links I-670, I-70, and I-71 to the greater Downtown area. Few hospitality-based businesses have really thrived with a North Third address, one of the more recent failures being Fleur, a champagne-dessert bar that never quite caught on with its key demographic.

Fleur was located at 114 North Third Street, in the Exchange Urban Lofts, and in about a week or so, a new tenant will occupy the space, hoping to imbue life not only into lunch time, but into a burgeoning downtown scene. Rishi Sushi is the latest from the owners of Moshi Sushi, an inspired take on traditional Asian fare.

Rishi’s idea is to elevate Asian comfort food to a true dining experience. Customers can expect a  menu littered with fresh ramen, sushi, tapas, and Asian burgers. These will be made from the highest quality ingredients David Kim, chef, manager, and co-owner of Rishi Sushi, can find.

This means Scottish salmon, big eye tuna, and blue fin tuna for the cleanest tasting sushi, 21-day, dry-aged beef, butter brioche from The Angry Baker, and gluten-free soy for sauces for the burgers, a broth that takes two days to make for the ramen, and duroc pork belly to make everything better.

Menu items should range anywhere between $4 and $30, so guests can customize their meal based on how much they want to spend. Rishi Sushi will also have a full bar stocked with a vast selection of wines, craft beers, specialty cocktails, milkshakes, and juices.

The 2,500 square foot restaurant will seat roughly 85 diners inside, with another 60 seats being planned for an outdoor patio. The interior will have an upstairs and downstairs featuring vibrantly-painted walls to offset the intentional ambiance of elegant, positive energy.

“People flock down here to work day in and day out, and people need great places to eat,” shares Kim. “We want to push the idea that Asian food is more than just stir fry, that there is something for everyone, whether jeans and a t-shirt, or suit, or burger, or sashimi. We want everyone to leave happy.”

Rishi Sushi’s hours of operation will be Monday-Thursday, 11am – 11pm, Friday, 11am – 11:30pm, and Saturday, 4pm – 11:30pm. Happy hour, with a daily turnover of different drink and food specials, will run from 4:30pm – 6:30pm, Monday-Friday. It will be closed on Sundays.
