    Restaurant Roundup: News From The Hills Market, Flowers & Bread, and More

    Columbus always has many new restaurants, expansions, menu updates and other changes, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with everything. That’s why our Restaurant Roundup series was designed to keep you informed with the latest and greatest updates. Here’s what’s new in the local dining scene:

    The Hills Market Downtown

    The Hills Market is rounding up their Bloody Mary Bacon Brunches at the end of October. There are two remaining dates to participate in the event before the holiday season begins.

    For $15, guests receive a Hills Own Bloody Mary made with Watershed vodka, three thick cut slices of bacon with maple dipping sauce, and a cheddar drop biscuit with strawberry pepper jam. Up to five toppings are available for garnishing the Bloody Mary, and the selection includes “olives, charred pickles, bacon, lemon, lime, celery, asparagus, mozzarella sticks, caprese salad skewers, onion rings, grilled cheese sandwiches, peppers, carrots, salami and meatballs (plus a few surprises).” Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available upon request submitted at least two days in advance.

    The last two Bloody Mary Bacon Brunches will take place on Saturday, September 30 and Saturday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    The Hills Market will also host a Sip & Spa Wine Tasting the first Friday of October.

    “Those in attendance get drink tickets to taste ten wines, beers, or cocktails, and have access to a bounty of ‘spaworthy’ cheese and appetizers,” according to a press release.

    The Sip & Spa event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 6.

    Goremade Pizza

    Goremade Pizza is coming up on their one-year anniversary, and in celebration they’ll be holding a charitable event called Christmas on Wednesday.

    “Basically, we’re embodying the giving spirit of Christmas by giving away free pizza to anyone who comes in the door (while supplies last),” said owner Nick Gore. “And in turn, we’re suggesting that our guests make a charitable donation to a local food organization that is yet to be totally nailed down.”

    Regular menu ordering will halt for the day, including takeout, but bar service will continue, and will include some festive Christmas cocktails. The free event takes place on Wednesday, September 27.

    Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

    This coming Monday, September 18, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) will donate all of its profits to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, to help those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

    In partnership with sister company Rusty Bucket, CMR is hoping to raise more than $150,000 for disaster relief.

    To aid in that goal, they’re also opening up the opportunity for personal donations to be made through CMR by offering $25 CMR gift cards for every $100 donation made to the American Red Cross. For every $50 donation at Rusty Bucket, guests will receive a $10 gift card.

    Flowers & Bread

    Flowers & Bread has announced its fall roster of classes. The florist-slash-bakery’s staff of chefs, bakers, floral designers and farmers “have created classes around all their favorite things, including several short series devoted to intensive learning in your areas of expertise.”

    Classes include a three-week seafood series, a wood-fired pizza date night, a fall wreath-making workshop and tutorials on Thanksgiving and holiday centerpieces, among others.

    Also featured is Flowers & Bread’s first author event with Julia Turshen, author of the cookbook Small Victories.
