Restaurant Roundup: News From Panera, Crimson Cup, Momo Ghar and Others

Columbus always has many new restaurants, expansions, menu updates and other changes, and sometimes hard to keep up with everything. That’s why our Restaurant Roundup series was designed to keep you informed with the latest and greatest updates. Here’s what’s new in the local dining scene:

    Panera

The delivery service launched in August will expand citywide by the end of March. Local Panera franchisee Covelli Enterprises announced that it would bring 200 new jobs to the Columbus area — 16 Delivery Team Members at each location — and up to 2,000 jobs in all of its markets by the end of the year.

    Crimson Cup

Crimson Cup is hosting a series of educational coffee seminars at their Innovation Lab. It starts on Tuesday, January 31 and runs from 6 to 8 p.m. “Coffee Brewing 701: Hand-Poured Brewing” will “explore the science behind hand-pour coffee via demonstrations of Chemex, Hario v60 and French press brewing methods,” teaching up to eight students how to prepare coffee to individual tastes. The course is $50, and registration is online.

    Momo Ghar

Yelp has named Momo Ghar the number one place to eat in Columbus, landing the city its first spot on Yelp’s top 100 list. The restaurant serves Himalayan and Nepalese cuisine from its spot inside Saraga Market. It’s known for its bestselling dish Jhol Momo, Nepalese dumplings inside a spicy sauce.

    Ohio Craft Brewers Association

The nonprofit guild announced the appointment of Justin Hemminger as communications manager. It’s a new position, created to keep up with, “serve and promote the association’s rapidly growing membership.”

“I am very excited for the opportunity to be an advocate for Ohio’s craft brewers,” Hemminger said in a statement. “We’re making world-class beer here in the Buckeye State, and I’m thrilled to have the platform to tell people about it.”

    Greater Columbus Convention Center

The convention center commemorated its new South Cafe & Marketplace’s grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this month. The new food court, located by the south entrance, serves Subway, Donatos, Charley’s Grilled Subs, Siam Express, Mykonos Gyros, Velvet Cafe, Fame’s, and Chicken ’N Eggs.

“The South Café & Marketplace is a stunning example of the style to which our guests are becoming accustomed at our facility,” said John R. Page, GCCC General Manager. “It will be even further enhanced with additional gathering space when the nearby atrium renovation is completed in July.”
