Red Giraffe Designs & Three Buds Flower Market Partner on Space in German Village

A growing pocket of local businesses in German Village will see the addition of two new operations with Red Giraffe Designs and Three Buds Flower Market opening a joint space at 1147 Jaeger St.

It’s the third Columbus retail location for Red Giraffe and the first for Three Buds which is also owned by Red Giraffe Founder Kate Stevens along with friends Katie Schrader and Megan Zahnow.

The friends had been brainstorming ideas for a flower-based business when, “We kind of came up with this cool idea of a build-your-own flower bar,” Stevens says.

Through Red Giraffe she had seen just how much people enjoyed customized gifts. Why not apply build-your-own to other types of businesses?

Three Buds started about six months ago, doing pop-up at events like Moonlight Market and outside of Red Giraffe’s Short North store. Word of mouth even scored them bookings for a few weddings.

Stevens had already been looking into other retail spaces for Red Giraffe when she found the spot on Jaeger Street.

“When we saw this space in German Village, it was kind of set up perfectly for two businesses,” she says.

Three Buds was also in need of space for its work, ready to ditch a friend’s garage in favor of a more formal space.

Stevens was attracted to the rapidly growing area that has seen Fox in the Snow, The W Nail Bar, STUMP and Native move in just up the street over the last year or so. Several of the businesses are her neighbors in Short North as well.

The dual storefront will create a one-stop-shop for special occasions and gifts Stevens say.

Red Giraffe’s side will see the jewelry shop’s staple designs and one-of-a-kind pieces, as well as a customization bar similar to the other locations. Three Buds will feature a “build your own bouquet” flower bar. For those who don’t want to foray into floristry, pre-made designs will be available. Three buds will also continue to do arrangements for weddings and events, now having a storefront to meet with clients.

Signature candles for each business developed in partnership with the Candle Lab round out the store’s offerings. It’s floral scents for Three Buds and a riff on coffee for Red Giraffe as a nod to their coffee shop neighbors at their flagship store in Short North.

The space is still under construction, but Stevens is aiming for an opening sometime in April.
