Promowest Productions Acquires Two Cincinnati Festivals
Promowest Productions is already one of the most prominent concert companies in Columbus, with four big venues under their management umbrella, and today they’ve announced growth plans for the Cincinnati market with the acquisition of two festivals: Bunbury and Buckle Up.
The Bunbury Music Festival was first launched in 2012, and in its short three-year lifespan has hosted an impressive collective lineup including Jane’s Addiction, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, Tegan and Sara, fun., Cake, MGMT, Belle & Sebastian, The National, Paramore, Young the Giant, Fall Out Boy and dozens of other national and regional bands. The lineup for Bunbury 2015 is expected to be announced in February.
“When this opportunity came up to take over Bunbury, it was too good to pass on,” said Marrisa Luther, Marketing Director at Promowest Productions. “They bring a lot of bands to this event that we already bring to Columbus, so this is right in our wheelhouse.”
The Buckle Up Festival is a newer event that launched in the summer of 2014 with a country lineup that included Alabama, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and dozens of others over a three day span. Luther said that a country festival is a new area of expansion for Promowest, but they’re excited about the opportunity it presents.
“Bunbury is our big focus in 2015, and Buckle Up will be our big focus when it returns in 2016,” she stated. “We’ve changed the date of Bunbury to June 5-7, but don’t plan to change the feel or the following of the event — we’re planning to just take it up a notch and take it to the next level.”
The announcement comes at the close of a big year for Promowest Productions as a company, which hosted a year-long celebration of the organization’s 30th anniversary.
