Tonight, prepare for another power outage as Big Gigantic’s performance has the potential to blow the grid. Combining forces in Colorado, friends Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken grew up playing funk and jazz, but came together to form an original in EDM. While hip-hop is an obvious additive to any electronic or dance track, the duo also adds jazz and the slightest hint of dubstep as ingredients for a recipe that is dancy, but also easily enjoyable for an occasional EDM listener. Before their performance at Headliners in Louisville, I briefly spoke with saxophone player, Dominic Lalli, as he was doing laundry.
Briana Henry: Will you play material mainly from your last album, Nocturnal, or perform a variety?
Dominic Lalli: We’re going to play a good amount of stuff from Nocturnal as well as a brand new stuff that we’re trying out, and we have this huge new light show.

BH: For first-timers, what can they expect?
DL: A pretty raging dance party!
Although Lalli would not spill any details about their plans for summer festivals, he did note that they are confirmed for a few and that they would announce which ones in the next few days. Kill Paris and Manic Focus will open tonight’s rager at The Newport. Tickets are available online, as well as the box office at the Newport for $20.
