Preston’s Takes Over Challah! Food Truck, Launches Second Long-Term Popup

The “Preston’s: A Burger Joint” pop-up is inching closer to their goal of becoming Columbus’ In-N-Out. They’ll launch a long-term kitchen at Short North’s Eugene’s Canteen, 765-C N. High St., on Wednesday, August 1, their second pop-up location. On top of that, Challah!, a food truck that’s been serving up Jewish comfort food since 2013, will rebrand into a Preston’s truck by Sunday, August 5.

Preston’s first popped up at Three Sheets in the Brewery District before relocating to Woodlands Backyard, 668 Grandview Ave., in Grandview back in April. There, they’ve been offering their signature Pres’ Singles and Doubles and a variety of other sandwiches and sides for dinner every weekday, and for lunch and dinner on the weekends.

A similar setup will take place at Eugene’s Canteen. Preston’s will be available for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, with brunch service offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Their brunch menu is limited but diverse. It features Jake Cakes, with candied bacon syrup, whipped cream and powdered sugar; mushroom toast, with farmers cheese, confit mushrooms, soft boiled egg and herbs; cinnamon-sugar-dusted donuts with candied bacon syrup; and an egg soufflé on a potato bun with american cheese, special sauce and arugula.

The Challah! food truck will operate for the last time at Seventh Son on August 1. Four days later, it’ll reappear at the brewery with a new name and paint job, serving up the Pres’ to Summer Flea event-goers on August 5.

“You’ll still get the same food made with integrity, and you’ll still be able to order Challah’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich on the Preston’s truck,” Randazzo promises. “We’ll have the same staff, the same approach to food—the only thing that’s going to change is the look of the truck.”
