After six and a half years, Pistacia Vera has departed the North Market.

The popular German Village bakery opened its second location at the North Market, 59 Spruce St., in December 2013.

The continued uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic influenced Pistacia Vera’s decision to close.

“We unfortunately have made the difficult decision to permanently close our North Market location. Due to continued uncertainty, we simply must focus our time & resources to our German Village location,” a social media post announcing the closure said. “We are committed to doing all we can to maintain a thriving business & continue to serve our extraordinary community during these difficult times.”

Fans can still get their macaron (and croissant and other French-inspired pastry) fix at Pistacia Vera’s German Village location, 541 S. Third St. The bakery is open for take away, curbside pickup and delivery from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily.

Pistacia Vera is the third vendor to leave the North Market since May. Coco Cat Bakery & Chocolates closed in May and Little Eater followed in June.
