After a year in the Central Ohio market, WV-based Pies & Pints is ready to expand. The second location will arrive in The Short North by way of the mixed-use Fireproof development, which is already under construction.
“The Downtown, Arena District, Short North and Campus areas have been on radar for awhile,” explains Pies & Pints Owner Rob Lindeman. “We saw what Elford did with The Hub and thought that it made sense for us to be in The Fireproof building. It’ll be a great site for us.”
The Fireproof development will contain approximately 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space once complete, with Chipotle taking 2,400 square feet in the new build portion of the building and Pies & Pints taking on 4,500 square feet in the historic side of the building. Lindeman says that gives them room for approximately 125-150 seats including the bar, where customers can take part in their pizza-and-beer centric menu.
“Our Charleston West Virginia store is in a historical building, and it’s our preference to do these cool unique repurposed sites,” he says. “We’re thrilled to do it in Columbus.”
The exterior facade of The Fireproof building will mostly remain unchanged, though Pies & Pints will implement the popular according-style windows that can open out onto the sidewalk in the warmer months. A patio is not planned at the time, but could be added at a later date.
Lindeman says that they expect to begin building out their restaurant around October and expect to be open sometime in late 2014 or early 2015.
