Nineties and naughties alt-rock radio mainstays Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World stopped by Columbus on Tuesday evening, as freak rainstorms and sing-along songs you’d almost forgotten you knew took over a nostalgia soaked outdoor stage at Express Live!
Ra Ra Riot opened the evening before Jimmy Eat World hit the stage to belt out back-to-back fan favorite songs that have been staples on edgy radio stations for over a decade now.
Third Eye Blind spent the first few songs hidden away at the back of the stage as lights and video effects played along to the sounds of “Screamer” and “The Kids.” They then moved to a more sensible spot on stage during the first of the band’s many hits, “Never Let You Go.”
Shortly after, the sky seemed to take serious issue with what was happening below and unleashed a torrential downpour that had many, myself included, running for anything that resembled shelter.
The band carried on regardless, and as the rain died down those that stayed were rewarded with some classic cuts, including, “How’s It Going to Be” and set closer, “Semi-Charmed Life.”
