Locally based mega-rock station The Blitz hosted their yearly Great Summer Smokeout this past Saturday night at a thematically relevant toasty hot Express Live! as a small handful of iconic bands and performers hit the outdoor stage for an evening of radio-approved loud noises and quite a bit of sweating.
First up were the hugely influential and indirect godfathers of grunge, the Melvins, who filled their hour long slot with sludgy guitars and Buzz Osborne’s dominantly gruff vocals.
Korn frontman, Jonathan Davis was next up, performing tracks from his recently released solo album Black Labyrinth.
Ohio born industrial metal icon and all-around intimidating looking fella, Marilyn Manson closed out the evening.
