Photos: The 31st Arnold Sports Festival
The 31st Arnold Sports Festival took place over the weekend as 22,000 athletes and somewhere close to a zillion attendees took over the city to watch and participate in over 80 sports and check out all that’s new in the world of sports equipment, apparel and nutrition.
Visitors were once again treated to a sensory overload inside the Columbus Convention Center. Aisles of neon-colored drinks led the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd to stages featuring a never-ending supply of entertaining events, including weightlifting, arm-wrestling, Highland games and the Arnold Strongman Classic.
The best of the best from all over the world once again competed, and celebrity sightings were common place throughout the weekend. Those in attendance got to grab a selfie or two with their muscle-clad heroes, and those in the right place at the right time were able to catch a glimpse of the Terminator himself as he popped up at various events amidst a sea of security and raised cellphones.
Various other locations around the city hosted events, including The Ohio Expo Center, where sports including gymnastics, cheerleading and martial arts took place.
This year’s festival got a little bit bigger, with a handful of sporting events getting their Arnold debuts, including foosball, futsal, arm-lifting and a Ninja Warrior course that was open for anyone to test their skills upon.
