Photos: Silversun Pickups at the Newport Music Hall
Los Angeles alt-rockers, Silversun Pickups returned to Columbus on Monday night at the Newport Music Hall with a best-of set pulled from the band’s 20 years of fuzzy-guitar led radio-rock hits.
Hitting the stage at the early time of just after 8 p.m., the band (guitarist/singer Brian Aubert, bassist Nikki Monninger, drummer Christopher Guanlao and keyboardist Joe Lester) jumped straight into a collection of fan favorites and older cuts such as “Well Thought Out Twinkles,” “Panic Switch” and set closer “Lazy Eye” while the quartet’s usual spectacular lighting design flooded the stage.
The band haven’t released any new music since 2019’s Widow’s Weeds, and this, the weather and the unexpectedly early stage time likely contributed to a moderate yet welcoming crowd. Although, those that were there were treated to a highly enjoyable evening of songs you might not of heard in a while.
