    Photos: Remembering Amber Evans

    Friends and family of Amber Evans held a memorial service for her on Friday, April 5. Evans, a well-known community organizer, disappeared in late January, and her body was recovered from the Scioto River by Columbus police on March 23.

    A public vigil was held for Evans on March 28. Friends, family members, other community organizers and the youth that Evans mentored through her work at the Juvenile Justice Coalition (JJC) took turns speaking about Evans’ impact on their lives. Evans was involved in a number of organizations throughout the city, most notably JJC and the People’s Justice Project. She was 28 years old.
