The Maroon Arts Group creative collective, in collaboration with the City of Columbus and other sponsors, opened its new Movement Pursuing Arts, Commerce & Community (MPACC) arts space in the King-Lincoln District on Sunday, May 20.
A unique development consisting of two repurposed shipping containers—with a third operated by vegetarian soul food restaurant Willowbeez SoulVeg—Maroon Arts Group opened the space with a day-long festival featuring music, vendors, performances, and activities for children.
On the main stage were performances by Paul Wood of the Columbus All-City Drumline and Transit Arts Group, among others. And in the MPACC arts space gallery, artists from Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center were featured in an exhibition titled “Transc3nd.”
