Photos: HighBall Halloween 2018 Entertains Despite Rain and Cold
Rain, thousands of costumed humans both big and small, more rain, live music from local musicians, the fabulous Nina West and Monica Day in more wardrobe changes than you can count, and, oh, did I mention the rain?
HighBall Halloween, a celebration of creative fashion and one of the nation’s biggest and best street parties, took over Downtown this past weekend. Local designers showed off their visions on stage, while the average Joe had the chance to strut the stage for the themed public costume contest.
Despite the miserable conditions on Friday night, Souther, Amber Knicole and a Spice Girls tribute band did their best to distract the unsurprisingly small crowd from the wet and cold falling on them.
Thankfully, and despite being only slightly less miserable, Saturday night featured a much more typical Highball crowd of fancy-dressed party people in a much more upbeat mood. Local bands Effee, Funk Worthy and Mojo Flo entertained with upbeat danceable music, while Nina West once again didn’t disappoint with her music show featuring her dazzlingly dressed drag friends.
As usual, the evening ended with the costume couture fashion show and the public costume contest.
