With a number one album, gigs in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans, and a whole host of awards, it’s fair to say that Gang of Youths are a pretty big deal in Australia. Although they were the first band to perform for theĀ Aussie version of MTV Unplugged, they’re still relatively unknown on these shores. Yet on Wednesday night, the five-piece brought their emotion-laced rock and roll to an almost sold out crowd of passionate fans for an intimate show at the A&R Bar.
Freshly discovered singer-songwriter and fellow Australian, Gretta Ray opened the show with a solo acoustic set full of charmingly innocent banter and a captivating collection of happy/sad relationship songs.
Gang of Youth’s MTV performance just aired on MTV, while the physical release of the performance comes out on December 21.
