Columbus Crew SC picked up their first three points at home in the Caleb Porter era. A lone goal from Gaston Sauro gave the Crew a 1-0 win over western rivals, FC Dallas.
A game of few chances was decided early when Crew defender Sauro scored an almost identical goal to the one he got on the opening day. The center back headed home from a corner kick after just 10 minutes.
There’s still clearly work to be done under the new management, however, Crew SC now have seven points from nine, two clean sheets, and sit in second place in the conference at this very early point in the season.
