Photos: Columbus Crew vs. D.C. United
A night to forget at Lower.com Field as mistakes all over handed Columbus Crew their first loss at the new place as the visiting D.C. United won 4-2 on Wednesday evening.
During a first half that largely consisted of players falling to the ground and countless stoppages, it was ex-Crew hitman, Ola Kamara, who opened the scoring after a defensive hiccup from Aboubacar Keita left the D.C. forward with a clear path to his eighth goal of the season.
Yordy Reyna doubled the advantage with a well-placed header before defensive hiccup number two gifted D.C. a penalty that Kamara calmly dispatched.
Gyasi Zardes made his much welcome return in the second half and kickstarted a mini comeback as Kevin Molino and Lucas Zelarayan tried to make the game a contest with two scrambled goals that added a bit of belief back into the home team.
Sadly, for Columbus fans, Reyna spoiled the potential of another Crew comeback with his second of the night, leaving the black & gold with another uncharacteristic heavy loss.
Columbus will be back at home this coming Saturday, August 7 as Atlanta United come to town for a 7:30 p.m. kick off at Lower.com Field.
