The last of the Columbus radio Christmas shows took place Saturday night, and nothing says Christmas quite like a healthy blast of testosterone fuelled screaming from a collection of five bands packed with angry sounding men mostly dressed in black.
Blitzmas 2015 brought to Columbus the final stop of “The Order of Things” tour, and while you could criticize the radio station for not making the show unique, the well travelled show did bring efficiently quick set changes and zero technical issues throughout an evening that never backed down on delivering head-bang-along anthems to the sold-out LC crowd.
Sons of Texas, Audiotopsy, and Devour the Day kicked off the evening before Akron’s Red Sun Rising snuck in a slightly less macho-laced set of 90’s era Seattle guitar-rock.
Closing out the evening were Massachesettes metalcore band All That Remains. Singer Phil Labonte had the crowd entranced as he intensely paced around the stage demonically howling into an undeserving microphone while guitarist Oli Herbert stretched out his legs and manically flexed his impressing mane as the four-piece pounded through their set.
It’s hard to complain about five bands for $25, even if they did make me want to go home and beat-up my Christmas tree in a rage-releasing brawl.
Merry Blitzmas!
