On Friday, May 14, the 2021 CCAD Fashion Show was held at the Easton Community Drive-In. In addition to the socially-distanced watch party, guests also had the option of tuning into a livestream and watching from home. Proceeds from all ticket sales, as well as donations given during the event, benefit the CCAD student scholarship fund.
A champagne reception was held before the show for VIP guests, featuring live music from The Erik Augis Trio, where guests enjoyed treats from Metro Cuisine while watching the sunset. The show and livestream kicked off with a welcome and toast from CCAD President Dr. Melanie Corn and emcee Amber Knicole, lead singer of the neo-funk band MojoFlo.
The pre-recorded runway portion of the show was played on the big screen, and guests saw work from half of the 18 designers. A brief intermission was led by emcee Amber Knicole, who wore an outfit designed by fashion show participant Ryder Teach, and show hosts Columbus City Councilmember Shayla Favor and her husband Corey, a CCAD alumnus (Illustration, 2003).
After the second half of the runway show, graduating fashion design student Jesamie Houghtby received the Easton Fashion Award, presented by Jen Peterson, Chief Executive, Easton at Steiner + Associates, Inc. Houghtby presented Professor and Chair of Fashion Design Suzanne Cotton with a bouquet of flowers.
The fashion show concluded with Cotton presenting each participating designer with a bouquet of flowers as they walked across the stage. Next year’s show is planned for Friday, May 13, 2022.
