    Peanut Butter. Chocolate. Tradition.

A fitting tagline for Emlolly Candy’s Block O Buckeyes− handmade, officially licensed treats shaped like The Ohio State University’s iconic Block “O.”

“As a retailer in Columbus, Ohio, I recognize OSU as a major influence on the level of commerce in this community,” says Melanie Bunstine, one half of the mother-daughter team that owns Emlolly Candy.

“Whether it is football season, basketball season, or graduation, OSU has been a key factor to our success by providing us with an enthusiastic and loyal customer base,” she adds.

Block O Buckeyes −available with or without a candy Buckeye leaf− come in Traditional and Blonde flavors (peanut butter surrounded by milk chocolate and peanut butter surrounded by white chocolate, respectively), as well as solid milk chocolate, solid dark chocolate, and solid mint chocolate. (Full discloser: I am not a chocolate or peanut butter lover and even I think the Blonde Buckeyes are delicious.)

“Our Block O Buckeyes and our traditional Buckeyes are handmade with the finest ingredients, no preservatives,” says Emily McCurdy, the other half of Emlolly Candy’s mother-daughter team.

Block O Buckeyes −Traditional and Blonde− can be purchased individually for $1. Solid milk chocolate, solid dark chocolate and mint chocolate can be purchased individually for 90 cents,” McCurdy says. “We also sell them in two-piece gift boxes for $3.25, 12-piece gift boxes for $14.95, 20-piece gift boxes for $22.95, and 30-piece gift boxes for $32.95.”

The two-piece gift boxes make fabulous favors for weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events, she adds.

Block O Buckeyes currently are available for purchase at the Emlolly Candy store, located at 667 High St. in downtown Worthington next to The Old Bag of Nails; by email at [email protected]; and by phone at 614-436-4060.

They will be available for purchase at BlockOBuckeyes.com and EmlollyCandy.com in November.
