Paint and sip franchise Pinot’s Palette is setting up its easels in Short North. The studio will take over the former home of Fabian’s at 691 N. High St.

Pinot’s Palette launched in Houston, Texas in 2009 and has since built a nationwide presence operating in 31 states and Ontario.

Studios host a calendar of public paint and sip classes, and also offer options for hosting private events. All supplies are provided in class and event costs, with a professional artist that walks guests through the step-by-step creation of a predetermined painting. For those 21 and up, there’s a bar serving beer, wine and limited spirits to imbibe while arting.

Pinot’s Palette Short North will have room for 48 in its main studio, with a private events room that can accommodate 12 to 24 guests.

The Short North Studio will be run by husband-and-wife team Brian and Stephanie Noel. The empty nesters made the move from Powell to Italian Village in 2018 and fell in love with the neighborhood and surrounding area.

Stephanie says the couple had long thought of opening their own small business but didn’t know when, where or what. Inspired by the Short North, “We started looking for a business that was complementary to the rich arts culture in the area,” Stephanie explains. “We also wanted something that was interactive and fun to do and came across Pinot’s Palette.”

The space is currently under renovation and aiming for a mid-January opening.

Fabian’s vacated the High Street address earlier this fall saying, “The place has run its course in the Short North. Everything around is changing and revamping like our sister company, Macs, next door. We don’t wish to upgrade but rather allow the space to become something more fitting and new, for this location.”

Short North will be the second Pinot’s Palette studio in Central Ohio. A location in Powell is also currently under construction.
