RV-driving Ohio State University football fans can rest a little easier on game days this season, but its going to cost them. The university announced Wednesday that it is eliminating the first-come, first-serve system for RV parking passes and instituting an online-only reserved-space system. Passes for one of the universitys 141 designated game-day spaces can be purchased up to the day before the game at www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com .
Another 111 RV parking spaces are available for season ticket holders. Those will cost $630 this year, up from $280 last year. The $90 per-game reservation cost is up from $50 last year, an increase that accounts for the convenience of the reserved spots and the space the vehicles take up, said Beth Kelley-Snoke, a spokeswoman in the universitys athletic department.
The traffic congestion caused under the old system is a primary driver behind the new approach. Previously, RVs lined up for blocks to secure a space.
