Update 2/10/2020: This article has been updated with a new opening date for Yelo Aple in Olde Towne East.
Botanical boutique Yelo Aple will open a second location in Olde Towne East at 76 Parsons Ave. starting Friday, Feb. 14.
With its first location in the Short North at 15 W. Fifth Ave, the Parsons Avenue address gives nursery owner Bee a chance to be in a diverse and rich part of the city. Growing up, OTE was always a place that he loved to be.
“It’s been great being back in the Short North, couldn’t ask for a better community to start this new journey of my life in,” Bee, who grew up in Columbus, says. “[But] OTE has a place in my heart. A place with a story, a place with so much history.”
The spot on Parsons came after searching for some time for an Olde Towne East location. Though other spots fell through, he never stopped looking. Now nearing a second opening, customers can expect a cozier space with a focus on smaller and medium-sized house plants.
The space also comes with a “really cool” workshop room for the plant-centric programming the Short North location is already known for.
Bee says he’s excited for the next chapter of Yelo Aple, and being in OTE especially.
“I feel when im there, the diversity is undeniable. I feel its a melting pot for Columbus minorities as well,” says Bee. “The culture and diversity is beautiful and I hope by opening a business there we add to that and keep it there, instead of pushing it out.”
Yelo Aple opens at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at 76 Parson Ave. For more information, visit www.yeloaple.com.
